Some opportunities are worth building. Most are worth testing first.
KT11 Venture explores and selectively develops new-business and venture opportunities across investment, wealth, capital markets and related financial infrastructure.
The objective is not to build for the sake of building. It is to find out whether an opportunity is strong enough to become a real business — and, where it is, help turn it into one.
New businesses can start in different places.
An institution may see an opportunity that does not fit comfortably inside its existing business. A technology or market shift may make something possible that was not viable before. A strategic theme may develop into a specific opportunity. Or KT11 Venture may originate a Project Idea from its own work and market observations.
At this stage, the important question is not how quickly a company can be created. It is whether there is something worth creating.
- An institutional opportunityA new proposition, customer segment, distribution model or business model that could create business beyond today's setup.
- A market shiftA change in technology, regulation, infrastructure or customer behaviour that may make a new business possible.
- A partnered opportunityAn opportunity that becomes credible because different institutions, technologies or capabilities can be brought together.
- A Project Idea developed by KT11 VentureA specific new-business hypothesis that KT11 Venture believes is worth examining further.
A promising idea is only the beginning.
Before committing significant capital, organisational attention or a new company, the assumptions behind the opportunity need to survive contact with the market.
KT11 Venture works to understand what would need to be true for an opportunity to become a viable business — and then looks for evidence. That can mean testing the customer problem, proposition, economics, technology, regulatory route, potential partners and the people needed to make the business work.
Some opportunities become stronger.
Some change materially.
Some should stop.
Building does not always mean the same thing.
If the evidence supports moving forward, the next step does not automatically have to be a conventional internal project.
Some opportunities can be developed within the existing organisation. Others may benefit from a more dedicated build structure — while still remaining compatible with the institution's strategic and governance requirements.
Depending on the opportunity, that could mean a corporate venture build, a partnered structure, a dedicated vehicle or, in some cases, a standalone venture with its own leadership.
KT11 Venture does not begin with a predetermined corporate form. It begins with the opportunity and works towards a structure that can work both as a business and in its institutional context.
A deliberately lean way to build.
KT11 Venture is not designed as a large permanent venture studio. It combines senior judgement with AI-native execution and brings in the capabilities an opportunity actually requires.
Thomas Bümsen remains closely involved in origination, judgement, key decisions, relationships and the early development of selected opportunities.
AI is part of how research, analysis, concept development and execution are carried out — increasing what a deliberately lean core can explore and produce.
Specialists, technology partners and other capabilities are brought in where the opportunity requires them rather than maintained as permanent infrastructure.
Where an opportunity becomes a standalone venture, the objective is to bring in the founder or operator who can ultimately lead the business. KT11 Venture can help create the company; it is not designed to remain its permanent operating management.
KT11 Venture can help turn an opportunity into a business.
Depending on the opportunity, Build may involve:
- Opportunity origination & developmentTurning market observations, strategic questions or initial hypotheses into sufficiently specific new-business opportunities.
- Validation & evidence buildingTesting the assumptions that matter before significant commitment is made.
- Proposition & business-model developmentDeveloping what the business could offer, to whom, and how it could create and capture value.
- Business & operating-model designWorking through the structure, capabilities, partners and operating logic required to make the opportunity real.
- Technology & partner orchestrationBringing together relevant external capabilities where the business cannot or should not be built entirely in-house.
- Venture formationHelping establish a standalone venture with the people, structure and early execution it needs.
Different opportunities. Different roles.
KT11 Venture's role depends on what is being built and with whom. It may work with an institution developing a new business, collaborate with technology or specialist partners, or take a more direct role in an opportunity originated by KT11 Venture itself.
The economics, ownership, governance, intellectual property and responsibilities therefore need to be established for each opportunity rather than assumed in advance.
KT11 Venture does not manage third-party capital and does not assume that every opportunity should become a KT11 Venture-owned company. Financing, investment and capital-advisory roles are separate questions and are not automatically part of Build.
Some opportunities begin as Project Ideas.
KT11 Venture publishes selected new-business hypotheses it is actively exploring. The public page sets out the opportunity and why it may matter. Where useful, a more detailed Concept Brief is available after identification.
Not every Project Idea will become a venture. Further work may strengthen it, change it, lead to a partnership or show that it should stop.

A new-business opportunity does not have to become a conventional internal project. And considering a different build structure does not necessarily mean stepping outside the institution's strategic and governance requirements.
There are different ways to create new business — from corporate venture building and partnered approaches to more independent ventures.
If an opportunity might benefit from a different approach, that is worth a conversation.
